DeLand – Railroad crossing and roadway repair is occurring this weekend at Old New York Avenue as part of a project to improve safety and mobility by the Florida Department of Transportation and its SunRail team.
Old New York Avenue, west of DeLand, will be closed at the railroad crossing near the Amtrak Station beginning at 6 p.m. Friday October 20 through early Monday morning, October 23, when the roadway is expected to reopen at 5 a.m.
Access to local businesses near the crossing will be maintained up to the railroad tracks, including to the DeLand Amtrak Station, as well as to a private business expecting Biketoberfest visitors. Drivers will have to access these businesses from the east side of the tracks only. Detours will be in place to direct traffic. There will be no thru traffic at the railroad crossing.
