ORLANDO, Fla. – From September 19 – 23, 2022, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and SunRail are joining other State DOTs and organizations nationwide to recognize Rail Safety Week, reminding everyone to be safe on or near rail crossings. FDOT will use Rail Safety Week as another opportunity to inform Floridians how to safety navigate rail crossings and the preventive safety measures in place.
SunRail is launching an exciting and shareable campaign geared to attract a wide audience and empower the public to make safe decisions around trains and tracks. The week features many efforts including:
- Engaging video series on social media entitled, “How to: Not Get Hit by a Train”
- Increased law enforcement presence at grade crossings distributing SunRail safety handouts and enforcing traffic laws
- Art display at the Orlando Museum of Art showcasing original SunRail inspired pieces created by students of the Autism Society of Greater Orlando
SunRail invites the community to support Rail Safety Week by updating their social media profiles, website banners, and sharing informational flyers available to download here. The media kit is attached to this email as well.
Rail Safety Week reminds drivers and pedestrians to obey railroad signs and signals, never stop on the tracks, and avoid distractions. Follow @RideSunRail to view and share.
