Minimal Changes
For the majority of riders, this transition requires minimal change. Please note the following modifications to your preferred method of ticketing:
SunCard Holders
- Your old YELLOW SunCard is no longer valid. If you have one, please contact Servicio al Cliente for additional information.
- A new BLUE SunCard must be purchased at a SunRail station Ticket Vending Machine only
- You can purchase a new SunCard for a limited promotional price of 25 cents at any station Ticket Vending Machine
- All new SunCards will go back to the original price of $5.00 after December 31, 2024
Transferring Your SunCard Value
- Once you have your new BLUE SunCard, you can recover any remaining value and transfer it from your old account by visiting Accounts.SunRail.com
- Your SunCard value can be transferred to a Mobile Ticket account as well as a new SunCard account
Single-Day Paper Tickets – Minimal Change
Single-day paper ticket users will only need to use the new white ticket vending machines on the platforms instead of the old machines. No other change is required.
Bus transfer discounts will stay the same and will occur at the new ticket vending machines.
Mobile Ticketing – No Change
Mobile Ticketing is the easiest way to purchase your SunRail pass. The download is free, you can purchase tickets in advance of your travel, and you are not required to Tap On/Tap Off when you get to the station.

In the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App, can I just screenshot my ticket or pass or add it to my mobile wallet?
No. The SunRail Ticketing Mobile App has an interactive security feature that Conductors will need to see within the opened app. A screenshot of the ticket or pass cannot be validated, and it is not possible to store a ticket or pass in a mobile wallet.
How do I use a ticket or pass in the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App?
Prior to boarding the train for each trip, select the pass you will be using for trip to activate it. Be prepared to show the screen to the Conductor upon request. Currently, when using the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App, there is no need to tap on or tap off at the Ticket Validator device.
How do I use transfers in the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App?

Should I delete my existing SunRail Legacy Mobile App?
We recommend you keep both apps installed. During the first year of SunRail Mobile Ticketing App, some features and functionality will take longer to migrate from the Legacy Mobile App to the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App. There may be a time where users rely on the legacy app for notifications but use the new mobile app as fare for their trips.
Can I use my existing username and password to access my account in the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App?
No. For security reasons, you will need to create a new username and password.
Can I still use my existing SunRail Legacy Mobile App?
Yes, we recommend you keep the original SunRail App active as it is still being used to send push notifications for train delays and service updates.
What does the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App do?
The SunRail Mobile Ticketing App allows users to ride SunRail using their mobile phone as their ticket or pass. When you start using the SunRail Mobile Ticketing App to purchase your tickets, not only will you stop using your SunCard, but you’ll also stop taping on or off at the stations.
